frequently asked questions
FAQ

How do we secure our date?
It begins with a conversation. Once you fill out my contact form and we ensure our visions align, I’ll send over your custom wedding collection options. To officially anchor your date in my calendar, I require a signed contract and a 30% non-refundable retainer. From there, the date is yours and the planning begins.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Absolutely. I believe these are the "rehearsal of presence," which is why a complimentary session is included in every wedding collection. It’s our time to find our rhythm and break the ice of the lens so that by the wedding day, we feel like old friends. If you feel your story needs more time to unfold, we can always extend the session to fit the adventure.
How long does it take to get our photos?
I know the anticipation of reliving these moments is heavy. You will always receive a "Sneak Peek" gallery within 48 hours of your wedding day. For the full, hand-curated Permanent Archive, my delivery timeline is 8–12 weeks for weddings and 30 days for engagement sessions.
During the height of peak wedding season, engagement galleries may take up to 60 days. I believe in total transparency; if there is ever a shift in that timeline, you will be the first to know. However, in my entire career, I have never delivered a gallery late. I take the stewardship of your memories seriously.
Will we have a second photographer?
Yes. I believe a second perspective is essential for a complete documentary. Every collection includes a second photographer for the full duration of our contracted time. While I am focused on the "unscripted heart" of the day, my second lead is capturing the alternate angles, the quiet guest reactions, and the fleeting details you might miss in the whirlwind.
What is your approach to lighting and flash?
I am a devotee of natural, honest light—it’s how I maintain that earthy, cinematic mood. However, I am fully equipped for when the sun goes down. I use flash intentionally during the reception and on the dance floor to capture that high-energy, nostalgic "party" vibe, or in extremely dark spaces where the atmosphere needs a little help.
Can we have the RAW (unedited) files?
I do not provide RAW files. Much like a painter wouldn't hand over a half-finished canvas, the "art" happens in the curation and the edit. I hand-select and meticulously edit every frame to ensure it meets my warm, moody, and nostalgic standards before it ever reaches your gallery.
How is the travel handled?
I love to follow the story wherever it leads. Travel is included for up to 60 miles from my home base (Jefferson, Ohio). For locations beyond that, a transparent travel fee will be discussed and agreed upon. For destinations exceeding 3 hours one way, an accommodation fee will be added to ensure I am rested and ready to document your day with full energy.
How do you protect our memories?
I treat your images with the same reverence I would a museum artifact. I shoot on dual-slot Canon mirrorless bodies, meaning every photo is instantly backed up to two cards. Once home, your gallery is backed up to two separate hard drives. Your online gallery stays active for one full year, giving you ample time to download and store your legacy in at least two safe locations.
Can you help us find a location?
Of course. I maintain an ongoing list of textured, earthy locations within Ashtabula, Lake, and Cuyahoga County, but I am also a researcher at heart. If you have a specific "vibe" or theme in mind, I will hunt for the perfect backdrop that complements your story.
Do you take traditional family formals?
Yes. While my heart is in the documentary moments, I recognize the historical importance of family portraits. We will work together on a slim, intentional list of family groupings in your questionnaire to ensure we capture these efficiently so you can get back to the celebration.
What should we do if it rains?
We lean into it. Rain creates a cinematic, moody atmosphere that clear skies can’t touch. I am prepared with gear protection and a calm mindset; as long as you are willing to embrace the elements, we will make art out of the weather.
Do we need to provide you with a meal?
Yes, please. A hot meal during your reception (at the same time you eat) ensures myself and my second photographer stay fueled and ready to capture the party. This is usually the only time we put the camera down!
